Photographer Emrâ Islek invited me to join her multidisiplinary arts project “The Dancer” Part 1 of the photography trilogy titled EMRÂ ISLEK :SUBLIMINAL, a live performance that embodies photography, dance and impovised live music.

Drawing references from Jungian individuation process, The Dancer, explores the complexity of a woman’s journey dancing through her subconscious with a series of projected images that represents the incarnation of her psyche. Islek specifically used a Camera Obscura for this project as for her, the essence of pinhole photography lies in its seemingly magical ability with its unlimited depth of field to create a subterranean world. Drawing upon her childhood memories and personal experiences, her images are visual elegies of a contemplation process of life and death.
